Hello! I am
Lasse Cornelius

Welcome to my portfolio.

Lasse Cornelius

About me

Hi! I am originally from Germany, 24 years old, and passionate about video production. I love to work in teams and tackle new challenges.

I am always up to learning new things and excited about new experiences. Intercultural exchange is very important to me. I love all kinds of creative projects, reaching from art exhibitions to film review essays.

In June 2023, I completed my bachelor study “Creative Business and Media Management” at the NHL Stenden university of applied sciences in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.

Since then, I worked as a freelance editor and cameraman and as a marketing intern at STUDIOCANAL Germany.

From september 2022 until June 2023, was a assistent producer and later allround producer at Pixel Universe, a video production company from Haarlem, the Netherlands.

Throughout these 10 months, I was part of many video productions, oversaw the studios, organised video productions and edited projects.

Here is a short compilation of a few projects that I was part of:

education

My education at
NHL Stenden

The Creative Business Bachelor program takes four years, of which two and a half years are the core study. In this part, the student is given a broad overview about the media landscape. Some modules discuss for example marketing, other media concepting and production.
Most modules are designed in cooperation with real companies as clients, who need to solve a media related problem.

Then follows one minor semester to gain deeper insights into one aspect of the media industry and afterward 9 months of internship.

At  NHL Stenden, collaborations with companies from the real world are very common.
Students get the oportunity to provide solutions to problems from the industry and receive feedback.

Further education

Minor program

One semester in the third year is the so called “minor”program where students get deeper insights into one aspect of the media industry.

I did my minor at the university of Málaga in Spain, where I took courses about film and theatre theory.
These courses were more theoretical than at NHL Stenden, but the intercultural exchange was a rich experience for me.

Projects for Clients

During my studies at NHL Stenden, I worked on many projects for
clients from the real world. Here are a few example projects.

Craze

Craze is a Dutch company that develops and produces loyalty programs.  They were in need for a recruitment video to attract future employees.
To solve this problem, we first conducted an internal and an external analysis of the company.
Then we picked a target audience and developed a concept for a possible recruitment video. Media production was unfortunately not part of that module.
My group was selected among others to present our suggestions to the client directlyand we received feedback on our work.

NFF

The NFF is a film festival in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands that displays Nordic films. In cooperation with NHL Stenden, the NFF wanted to improve their audiences’ experiences.
We analysed one target audience segment and their costumer journey.
A costumer journey is a term that describes the path that costumers take from the first encounter with a product/service/brand over buying the product, till the costumer develops loyalty to the brand.
We developed suggestions for this journey and ideas to make the costumer experience special. Luckily, my group could present our suggestions to the client again.

Matters

Matters.frl is a platform that hosts students audio visual productions. In my second year of study, we developed and produced a series called “Learn to Earn!” about student jobs.
We started with a target group analysis and brainstormed 5-liners, before deciding on and developing our concept.
The pandemic made the production process quite difficult, but in the end we had manged to produce four short episodes.
I was mostly acting as a producer and camera operator during this project. However, in the end, other projects were chosen for the release.

Projects

Other projects

I also participated in various projects that were initatives by students and realized outside the NHL Stenden study context.
A few examples can be found below.

Logo of Chaos the series

This project was the development and realization of a thriller drama web series.
My friends and I took the effort to adapt a script by Nedyalko Panayotov. We worked under the name “Leviathan productions”, but it is not a registered company.

"Chaos” is an original scripted thriller-drama web series. It tells the story of Chaos and his friends, Olivia, and Alex, who all must deal with the suicide of their classmate, Victor. This four-part hard-hitting and horrifying series follows the days before and after the shocking event that changed Chaos, Olivia, and Alex’s lives forever, exploring psychological trauma, drug, and alcohol abuse.

This project was performed basically without a budget. Everybody was working voluntarily and the props and catering were financed from our own pockets.
We did a casting with 22 applicants and selected our 7 main characters.
The production took roughly 2 and a half months. With camera operators and actors working on a voluntary level, one of the hardest challenges was coordination and availability.

My main role in this project was the producer. But I also took almost all other roles. I was often co-directing, second camera operator, and production assistant.

At this point, the post-production is not finished yet, but it is planned to have the first screening in July in Gabrovo, Bulgaria.

Following are some pictures from the production.

Sushi All You Can Eat

“Sushi All You Can Eat Only 9.50” was a interdisciplinary artwork by Juliette Delta.
I was an actor and also produced the masks. Playing in front an audience was an amazing experience, and the artwork got a great resonance from the visitors.

Other video productions

I also participated in other audio visual projects. Mostly as camera operator or production assistant, but sometimes also as an actor. These projects were sometimes part of other students assignements, but some were own initatives.

Following is an example of a music video I worked on back in 2021 for the artist "Code Noir".
